Discovery Park Installation
Working with the experiential qualities in Discovery Park, create a place of refuge and rest for visitors. Include a silent place for rest and shelter from the elements, a contemplative space for a change of perspective, and a practical space for preparing food.
This project began with a site exploration of Discovery Park in Seattle. Light, sound, fullness/emptiness of space, and more were taken into consideration during the design process. These observations were transformed into collage-style diagrams that began to shape the final design of the installation.
Existing as a series of nodes or modules around the park, this design encourages people to explore the land around them and see what each node has in store for them. The simple materials these nodes are made of help them coexist naturally with their environment while their strong geometric shapes help them stand out and attract visitors to interact.
